New British Music. Emerging British Talent. Crawley. Sussex. Eastbourne. Brighton. New Music. Breakthrough. Talent. Commitment. Robin Romei. My Girl moved far away, I really miss her; I miss her. I buy a Rock and a Paper everyday -- Scissor Soliloquy. Tongue's twisting around a 99p cone, But they aint that cheap -- I can be when I'm alone. My girl moved far away I really miss her, I miss her I go down to the beach everyday Queuing up on the Quay, The enchantment that I keep with me. But, I'm reading palms I try to be calm About how we'll make it. The shades and layers Of Dancehall Blues My girl moves far away I really miss her, I miss her And when no one cares for me The sea soothes me With her melodies. But, I'm reading palms I try to be calm About how we'll make it. The shades and layers Of Dancehall Blues You can tell me what's it about Because the chips in the paper are half eaten. The lines I could weave -- They just wave like the sea's reasons. But I'm selfish, brazen and sunk in wells and voids. If I could be a better man The pitfalls I'd avoid. Then I could see intricacies Not in diagrams, Irresolvable complex arrangements. The Pebbles move closer, Like parasites on the lands decent. This used to be pure This salt weathered façade. Now it's tarnished, Depleting, Shrinking - Yard by yard. Until I care no more about anything. But these Five senses And the rhythm of the tide To know where my place is Do you know where my place is? My girl moved far away I really miss her. I miss her.

New Website - New Live Era

Recently we have made a few big steps in upgrading our image, website, sound, live act and general all round appeal so we hope slowly as we learn and improve we will become better and better.

Live wise, where as before we were using the Roland SP 505, we are now using SPDS Pads and finding ways to be fun and experimental with our playing.

I have also begun to experiment playing with other elements, like a small keyboard I am now using live alongside a guitar. All in all we want to be as dynamic as possible.

Recording wise things have slowed down, and this can be said for the music videos as well, with the exception of my collab with Carrie Higgs and ILoveMakonnen. The song was great fun to work on and the two artists are so different in their own ways that to be involved was beneficial for me, and I believe everyone in the creation of a really nice laid back fun upbeat record. You can see the video both on the youtube channel and the webpage. Please indulge.

I look forward to getting back into playing some more live shows, the last run we had culmulated in a show at the 229 Club in London which was a great venue and was a highlight in a progressing career. Onwards and Upwards.

4th February 2012

Happy new year first of all. Its been a few weeks since my last post. Things have moved on a lot and this year already feels like its moving in the right direction.

First of all me and Paddi are really getting back up to speed with the band, we are now gig ready and getting dates organised for shows, which is fantastic.

Secondly the music is really taking off, thanks to your guy’s support, and the lastest video, Effy <US Edit> has been going viral so thats great too. I feel really assured with whats happening now and slowly I think things are coming together.

Currently I am working on so more challenging songs to listen to, which will be brought out by the end of the month, and also a slightly different more upbeat song should be coming your way shortly with vocals from an Artist who is local to me, Carrie Higgs and also an American artist called ILoveMakonnen. In this track I just play guitar and produce but it gives me other options and allows me to express myself in a different way, so  again its something I am proud to be working on.

In other areas of my life things are improving too, so in the year of the dragon, let’s hope dreams will come true.

Until the next time,

Robin x

Back to Square One On Thursday me and Paddi Christi met up again...

Back to Square One

On Thursday me and Paddi Christi met up again for a band practice. The last we also saw me create some more footage for some upcoming covers which will air on my ‘youtube channel’.

My performance in practice was not very good, however, we were tight rhythmically and a lot of things have not been lost, so I believe we will get there. I thank Paddi for his patience with me and I think he was happy to get behind a real kit. In the new year we will be playing gigs, hopefully with another member with the implementation of electronics. Also Paddi wants to get on the youtube bandwagon and I see a great opportunity with his drumming ability to push both our careers.

The World is Dying

I am tired of all this.

Tired of waste, people losing the will.

Youth out of employment, world is not turning any more, stagnating, and the music is feckless.

What do we have left, I have lost the drive.

That’s it. There’s nothing left here. People seem comfortable not progressing but regressing, and technology has ultimately destroyed our own humantity.

Me like the next person, but there are too many problems, and very few solutions.

My next track is called Back to (Save the World)

Leipzig

Fortunately today I managed to export half of my video for the song Leipzig.

Leipzig was written in a difficult period and encapsulates my emotions of visiting that part of Germany in 2010. The song itself I would describe as difficult to get into. In fact there are minimal hooks and the lyrical content could be described as being awkward.

I feel however that this is a necessary thing to do as a musician, and I tried to make a statement with the music. This song is not supposed to be easy listening, it is supposed to express a different idea and take you on a darker journey. It all sounds pretentious but I am tired of hearing music with limited meaning and weak lyrical content, both in the sense of paper-thin ideology and submissive narration. I want to hear music speak about my life. A life which can be good if you have confidence to feel emotions and allow your spirit to be at rest. If you have ambitions then a world which is real matters, a world in which the economic climate and moral obligation can often leave people of my generation lost and undervalued.

I am tired of hearing about people singing about materialistic goods and experiences which are out of reach for most, and tired of hearing music which is so sugarcoated and processed it is not real to anyone any more. I am not a good guitarist, I am not a good singer. I have lost my ways with melody but one thing I have learnt is that in this life, what matters is perseverance, dedication and chivalry. Even if unattainable it should be a goal.

Sorry for the Misdirection

Been a while since I wrote. Can’t get tired of saying that ‘Gun Hill’ etc. But actually there is a lot of interesting stuff going on. I bought an SP505 pad which means Auryn can play Synth live now. Not like it was before with a backing, but with triggers.

There was a guy called ‘Joe’ from texas, but I do not know where he is any more? He used to be a fan over the internet. It is quite strange.

I am playing a lot of guitar at the moment and am getting into shape. I have improved and also have lost weight and trimmed up. Slowly I am becoming the person I want to be, also my hair is growing out which is good.

The time to myself has been more than welcome and although my look for work in the field of my qualification has been fruitless I am still optimistic.
